RBI reviews MSME credit flow, TReDS, Udyam registration in J&K, Ladakh | KNO

Srinagar, Aug 13 (KNO): The 71st meeting of the Empowered Committee on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh was held in Jammu on Thursday, reviewing bank credit flow, TReDS financing, Udyam registration and various support schemes for MSMEs. Chaired by RBI Regional Director, Jammu, Prabhakar Jha, the meeting also reviewed the implementation of the MSME Annual Credit Plan 2026-27, collateral-free loans, CGTMSE coverage, stressed units and district-wise disparities in credit flow. In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said the meeting for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, was held at the Reserve Bank of India, Jammu, and was attended by representatives of various government departments, banks, SIDBI and industry associations. He said the meeting was attended by the Director, Khadi and Village Industries Commission; Joint Director, Department of Industries & Commerce; Assistant Director, MSME-Development and Facilitation Office; Executive Officer, J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board; senior officials of J&K Bank, State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, J&K Grameen Bank, Canara Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank, besides UTLBC convenor banks, SIDBI and representatives of industry associations, including the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA). The spokesperson said Jha, in his opening remarks, highlighted that MSMEs remain the backbone of India’s industrial economy, contributing significantly to GDP, manufacturing, exports and employment. He said Jha also highlighted recent policy measures taken by the Government of India for MSMEs, including mandatory use of TReDS by Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) for procurement from MSMEs and credit guarantee support through CGTMSE for invoice discounting on TReDS. On the regional front, he apprised the stakeholders of progress in financing through TReDS platforms, coverage under credit guarantee schemes and onboarding of MSMEs on Udyam. “He further urged the stakeholders to encourage MSMEs to embrace formalisation, ensure credit discipline and prioritise registration on Udyam Portal and onboarding on TReDS,” the spokesperson said. He said the Committee also reviewed the quarterly performance of banks on TReDS, Udyam Registration and flow of credit to the MSME sector, besides examining district-wise disparities in credit flow and the achievement of MSME Annual Credit Plan 2026-27 targets. The Committee further reviewed collateral-free loans, NPAs, CGTMSE coverage, sponsored cases under schemes including PMEGP, PM-SVANidhi, PM-Mudra and PM-Vishwakarma, rehabilitation of stressed units under the Framework for Revival and Rehabilitation (FRR) of MSMEs, pendency of credit decisions of up to ₹25 lakh for MSE borrowers and banking facilities in MSME clusters, among other issues.—(KNO)
